Can I Search Tinder Search for a Specific Person?

Yes.

You can search for a specific person on Tinder.

You can't do this through Tinder's own app.

But you can use a 3rd party app.

Tinder's own help page says that this is not possible.

Just ignore their article.

Tinder search is real.

I'll teach you how you can do it.

And we'll start with how I learned this trick…

How I Learned this Tinder Hack

To be honest, I thought searching for people on Tinder was impossible.

But, like my other Tinder Hacks, I quickly found out…

It's very possible.

But there are some caveats.

It costs money.
It's not 100% accurate.

It all happens through an app called "Cheaterbuster."

The owners of the app contacted me and asked me to write a sponsored review of it.

The designed the app to catch your girlfriend or boyfriend cheating on Tinder.

To be honest, this is not interesting to me.

So I was going to pass on the offer.

But then I realized…

That this app could be used in some CRAZY ways.

Seriously, so crazy that they could get you banned from Tinder.

I also discovered a method to find out if Tinder shadowbanned you…

As well as proof that Tinder is stealing from male users.

Which explains why so many guys get no matches on Tinder.

I discovered how to manipulate Tinder to give you matches with the HOTTEST women on the app.

All from this little app.

This post isn't a "review."

It's a full, comprehensive guide to utilizing a deadly effective tool for hacking Tinder.

But before we get to any of that…

The first step is to prove that this app can do what it says it can do:

Find a specific person on Tinder.

Joking aside this is a great way to validate this tool.

If I could find my own profile…

Then there's a reasonable chance I could find someone else's.

Whether I'm looking to find if an ex is on Tinder.
Or a girl from work I'm attracted to.
Or a friend to embarrass.

So, I put CheaterBuster to the test.

Is it possible to find my own profile?

It turns out… it's not as straightforward as I thought.

Here's What I did

First, I plugged in my name, age, and state I'm currently in.

I signed in to my account, and ran the search.

The result gave me a page of maybe 50 or so results.

All the guys named Marc around my age.

I was not in the results.

What I realized is the app only searched in this small radius…

Of some random town in New Jersey!

If you search by state…

You're not actually searching by state.

But rather by a tiny little radius somewhere in the state.

That the app just kind of… randomly chooses.

The consequence of this is:

You can't find someone on Tinder if you don't know what town they're in.

Okay.

So it turns out you can't look by state.

That's fine.

I wanted to see if I could find myself if I put in my current town.

So I went back, and ran the Tinder search again.

This time putting in the city I'm currently in.

I went ahead and ran the search and got a list of all the guys named Marc in my area.

All of which were my exact age, or one year older or younger.

Which is actually a cool feature.

Because it means you don't need to know the specific age.

Just a very sharp estimate.

I looked through the results and again -- I didn't find myself.

Trouble finding a profile

Now it's worth mentioning that I just turned 32.

So, when I put my age in to cheaterbuster, I made a mistake.

I put in my age as 31.

This shouldn't have been a problem…

As the app finds people within 1 year older or younger.

Had I put my age in as 32, I would have appeared in the results.

As it turns out this isn't the apps fault — it's Tinders.

Why?

To help protect it's users.

"Tinder uses something called 'fuzzy birthday' so the api doesn't give the exact birth date."

The Tinder API gives a "range" of dates for a users birthday.

When a 3rd party app requests the information.

What this means is you need to make sure you nail the actual age when you search.

Because if you're a year older or younger…

Then the Tinder API could ruin things for you.

Getting my Profile in the Results

At this point we know that we want to be pretty specific with age.

And you want to be specific with where in the state you're doing the Tinder search in.

So if you're looking for a girl on Tinder in New York…

You're going to need to be more specific to the neighborhood.

If you can't search for someone on Tinder in your first search…

There's an option to "expand radius" for free.

And it will run a second search in a larger area.

This time I'll give the app my town and my correct age of 32.

Anyhow here's what I found:

Right there, result #1 was me.

Jesus..!

This app was able to find my Tinder profile.

Even though my Tinder profile should be private.

(Shame on you Tinder.)

I have to admit I laughed pretty hard when I found myself.

How cool is that?

This app actually lets you search Tinder!

You Can Find Someone on Tinder!

Crazy enough you can find someone in Tinder.

I was shocked to discover this.

It's far from perfect though.

You have to be pretty specific with where you put your address.

You need to be careful with age…

Even if you know the city (and it's a big city) the radius might not cover it.

And if you keep searching the same area it can get expensive.

Even with these limitations…

It's still pretty credible.

It Works (Sometimes)

I tested this on two friends.

One of which is a friend of mine (Jesse) who is visiting Argentina.

This is the same Jesse, by the way, that made Endless Options.

Which is the hands down best course on Tinder.

That teaches how to meet model-quality women.

Even if you look like him lol.

(Short, brown, and balding.)

Anyway…

With his first name, age, and the city he was in…

I was able to find him with no problem.

Then I tried it with a girl I'm currently seeing.

She was literally sitting in front of me when I ran the search.

"Less than a mile away."

Cheaterbuster was not able to find her.

Even with her name, age, and EXACT ADDRESS she was sitting at.

It costs $10 to run a search.

Although they sell packages of 3 searches for $6 which is actually great.

It's still a little disappointing that the app missed her.

But… it might not have been the apps fault.

She hasn't used her Tinder actively account in months.

But she has one.

But no matters who's fault it is…

You're still spending money to run it.

In Total:

In general, I found it took 2-3 searches to find someone.

Even if I knew the name, age, and city they were in.

So you're going to want to get a package of 3 searches.

The app costs less than a Tinder boost.

However… it is 100% worth it to find yourself.

Because once you do you can find out if you're shadowbanned by Tinder.

Let Cheaterbuster off the Hook (a Little)

One more thing.

It's worth noting that one of the reasons this app can't find a profile when making a Tinder search:

Is because maybe Tinder isn't being honest.

And is not actively showing your profile when Cheater-buster runs the search.

Even if that's true…

I'm not super happy that I get charged for the search.

Even if I can't find what I'm looking for.

I totally understand why they do it.

But… still…

How can you not feel aggravated when you run a $6 Tinder search:

For someone who is on Tinder.
Sitting RIGHT in front of you.

Anyway, let's move on.

Easy Tinder Profile Search

Running a Tinder search on Cheaterbuster for my own profile was pretty cool.

But a little thumbnail isn't actually that crazy…

But when you click it… something insane happens.

You actually get to see their entire profile!

The app doesn't just show you the profile photo…

It shows you:

ALL of their Tinder photos.
What they are searching for (men, women, or both.)
And the last time their profile was found in that location.

That makes this Tinder search tool insanely useful.

Effectively, you've got a comprehensive understanding of what area they are in.

What they are looking for.

And when their profile was synced.

In my case, that was the same date that I first wrote this article.

All of this information you get from doing a Tinder search can be to do some incredible things.

Which I'll get to soon.

But first, one more thing…

How cool would it be to see their bio, job and school?

You'd learn so much more information about them.

Even as detailed as determining where they live, or if they are just using Tinder passport to swipe in your area.

Just promise you wont use this info for anything weird…

At the bottom of the page there's a button called "SUPER UPDATE."

If you click it you get a pop up that explains what it does.

First off, running a Tinder search like this costs 2 credits.

Which is $20, so… it's your call if it's worth it.

Any how, here's what super update will reveal:

It updates their profile… so if you ran the search a month ago you get a refresh.
You'll see their Job.
Their Bio.
Their School.
Whether their profile is "active"
And you might even see if they are paying for Tinder Plus or Tinder gold.

What I love about this is you can copy the URL…

So you can check back again and again.

And whenever you want pay a credit to update things.

And see where that person currently is.

What their new photos and bio are.

But most importantly…

You can check if Tinder is currently showing their account.

Which leads me to the biggest Tinder algorithm discover I've made this year…

Near confirmation…

That Tinder is ripping you off.

I'll explain shortly.

Stay Connected

Not only can you find someone on Tinder…

But once you find them you'll always have access to their account.

By clicking "My Account" in the app you can see all your previous searches.

And go back to them.

Also, any profile you find has a unique URL.

Just save that URL and you can visit it any time.

If they change or update their Tinder Profile that information will be old.

But you can use one credit to update it.

(Also, the search is saved in your Account for cheater-buster.)

So it's easy to find either-way.

Tinder Algorithm Exposed

When it comes to the Tinder Algorithm…

It's kind of in everyone's best interest if Tinder makes it harder for guys.

The reason is this:

If Tinder was a free-for-all the most attractive women would be overwhelmed.

And they'd leave the app…

So Tinder needs to find a way to sort the guys based on some kind of rank.

That rank can be determined by anything:

What % of women message you back.
What % of women respond to your opening line.
How often you use the app.
How quickly you respond to messages.
What % you swipe right.

Basically, Tinder gives you a desirability score.

So, it makes sense to put "worse" profiles at the bottom of the list.

Which is why so many guys struggle getting no dates on Tinder despite doing everything "right."

How to Find Out if Tinder is Shadow Banning You

So I can understand that Tinder will make me wait at the bottom of a girls queue…

But I'd still expect to be on the queue.

And that's where Tinder has a dirty secret:

For whatever reason, at random times, they shadow ban you.

They stop you from getting matches.

They take you off everyone's queue.

Well, on Cheaterbuster, you can find out whether Tinder is actively showing your profile.

Or if they are suppressing and shadow banning you.

Where this becomes really scary is when you're paying for Tinder.

Like I am.

In fact, for Zirby I pay for both Tinder Plus and Tinder Gold.

So here I have compelling evidence…

That even when I am spending money every month…

For years on Tinder…

I find out that they are not actively showing my profile.

Lawsuit, anyone?

No, I'm not going to sue Tinder.

But you can bet I'm pretty unhappy about this.

Of course this isn't definitive.

After all, maybe the problem is Cheater Buster…

But..!

I've noticed that there are periods of time where I get tons of matches.

And times where I get none.

Almost randomly.

Right now I have over 250 matches that I haven't messaged in a few weeks.

And I've been too busy to respond to messages on Tinder.

So I assume they just aren't showing my account until I get more active.

But whatever is going on…

It's not nice of them to suck money out of my account.

And not ensure my profiles is being see my women in my area.

Delete Your Tinder Account

So like we found out:

Cheaterbuster can show if your profile is shadowbanned.

(Most likely)

And if it is:

You can simply delete your Tinder account and make a new one.

Or just wait it out.

What's so useful about this is you can determine exactly when to remove and remake your Tinder.

It used to be risky.

If you threw away a well converting Tinder account by deleting it you couldn't get it back.

And there was no way to know if you were actually being suppressed.

Now we have the answer.

This alone makes the app worth running and finding your own profile.

There's also an option to get weekly updates via email.

So, like a credit score report, you can Tinder search automatically every week.

See if you're being shown at any given time.

Anyhow with that out of the way, let's cover other ways you can leverage this app.

All of which I will be experimenting with.

Find Out if Your Girlfriend is Cheating on Tinder

Is Your Girlfriend Cheating on Dating Apps?

If you want to find out if your girlfriend is cheating on you with Tinder:

You can do a Tinder search for her profile and see if it's active.

There's no surprises here.

Let's move on to something more exciting.

Yes.

You can find an ex on search Tinder using the Cheaterbuster app.

All you need to do is plug in their name, age, city and hit search.

I wanted to test if this would work.

So I searched for one of my ex-girlfriends.

But because I didn't know EXACLTY what part of the city she was in…

I couldn't find her.

And gave up after spending 2 credits ($20.)

Arrange a 3som

Assuming you want to be a little discreet…

You can find out if the Tinder fling you're seeing is interested in bringing another girl in to the mix.

All you need to do is find their profile and see what they are looking for.

Men, women, or both.

I also realized that this app is basically the worlds first Gaydar.

Uh… I'm not going to touch this topic any more.

Better to keep things PG.

Find a Hot Girl from Instagram on Tinder

Alright, so here's an interesting strategy.

Let's say you find an attractive girl or a celebrity on Tinder while you're traveling.

And you really want to match with her.

And with Tinder Searching, you can.

Here's how.

You can check if she's on Tinder.
Just put in her location, name and approximate age.
Once you find her Tinder profile through Cheaterbuster you have access to forever.

Or, at least until she deletes her account.

With that information you can come back every week and check where she's at by using a credit.

When you know where she is you can create a Tinder profile in her currently location.

And swipe right on everyone with a boost.

If she swipes left, you can just make another profile with different photos, rinse and repeat.

If she moves locations you can just check the new location and make a new profile there.

It gives you, more or less, infinite "shots" to match with her.

Just make sure you change up the new profile each time.

… and, one more thing.

Use this at your own risk.

I really want to emphasize that there's a fine line between doing a Tinder search for reasonable reasons…

And being a creep.

So it's your call to use this power responsibly.

I am NOT encouraging you to follow someone.

Or to make someone uncomfortable.

All of this blog post is just to help you match with someone you want to match with.

Which you could do already… if you had enough time to swipe over and over.

Create Split Test Profiles

Here's another use of this app that I LOVE.

One thing I do often is make 2 identical profiles.

There will be 1 small change between them.

And I'll use them both - swiping 100 times and counting the matches.

That way I know what works better on Tinder.

3 photos, or 6 photos?
Bio, or no bio?
Swiping 100% of the time, or 50% of the time?

All of this you can learn from doing this kind of test.

Known as "split testing" in the marketing world.

But when you do this, you usually don't want to use your own profile.

The reason?

Because you want to preserve those matches with your real profile!

When you do split testing, it can be difficult to find enough real photos of a guy or girl to test.

By using Cheaterbuster, you can just find a ton of profiles, and their bio.

Take all the content, create 2 Tinder accounts with it, and make one change.

That way you can test the results.

See Your Tinder Competition

Here's the last useful strategy you can use.

You can search for guys around your age in the area you live.

And get a master list of all their profiles.

That way you can get a good idea of your competition.

Using Tinder search in this way is seriously helpful because:

You can see the guys who do the best job projecting themselves in their images.
And get a sense of what their bios are.

Without the app you'd need to go through the trouble of creating a female Tinder account.

Which is a LOT of time and trouble.

And then you'd have to sit there and swipe over and over to collect the guys profiles.

Now you can skip all that work.

The 1 credit you use to do this search is totally worth the $10.

Can You Find Someone on Tinder for Free?

No, you can not find someone on Tinder for free.

You will need to use a 3rd party app such as Cheaterbuster.

Or you just have to get really luck swiping through profiles when you're near them.

How to Find out if Someone has a Tinder Profile

You can find out if someone has a Tinder profile using Cheaterbuster.

The app allows you to search for someone based on their age, name, and location.

From our testing, there isn't 100% accuracy.

But you can still get a good idea of whether they have a profile.

Bringing it all Together

Even if you didn't care about how to find out if someone is on Tinder…

Searching on Tinder is still seriously useful in determining your own standing in the Tinder Algorithm.

All in all, the app is seriously useful.

But in my opinion it's a little too pricey.

It wouldn't be so bad if the search radius was larger…

Or more reliable…

Then it'd be fine.

Still, this is another powerful tool to have in your arsenal.
